Sammi’s Second Birthday

Well, our firstborn turned 2 yesterday!!! I can’t believe it!! I know everyone says this and it’s so cliche’ but it’s also very true….it seems like yesterday that she was born and I remember every detail of my pregnancy and her birth. She is such a little personality and I can’t believe how she is developing. It’s so fascinating and rewarding to see how she is learning things and talking and putting things together. I’m fascinated by her (and smitten with her :) . And her baby sister loves to watch her antics. She just sits in her bouncer and watches Sammi parade around and perform. She loves it!! I just adore my girls and think they are the best girls in the whole world. I know every mother thinks that, but this is the actual truth :) . When I was growing up I was adamant about not wanting any girls, only boys. The Lord works in mysterious ways, that’s for sure. I wouldn’t trade my girls for any boy in the world. They are awesome and I thank the Lord for them every single day. I’m honored that he chose me to be their mommy.

Prayer Time

This was too cute.  The past couple of times Sammi and I have been up for the Children’s Sermon we have been working on putting our hands together to pray during pastor’s prayer.  Sunday she actually clasped her hands together during the prayer. This was particularly impressive b/c she was at the end of her attention span and ready to run back to the pew with Mommy.

Later that evening Grampy was over for dinner and to visit the girls.  We had Sammi in her high chair when all bowed our heads for the mealtime prayer.  Mommy looked over at Sammi in the middle of the prayer and Sammi had clasped her hands together like everyone else and kept them that way throughout the prayer.  She was so proud of herself (as were Mommy and Daddy).  What a big smile.

First shots – OUCH!

Today was Danica’s 2 month appointment. Which means the first round of vaccination shots. She was great on height and weight – 11 lbs. 22 inches. She is growing like a weed. She was not very fond of the tetnus shot though.  That one made her leg quite sore.  All in all though she handled everything like a champ – as did Mom.

Home Run Harbor

Tonight Noelle and I took Sammi to a Barnstormers game. It was her first time to a game.  she did get to go to Clipper stadium to see her Uncle Adam play in a charity game, but this was the first time with all the attractions open and more than 5,000 people all in the same place.  She had a blast. Clipper stadium has a Homerun Harbor which has bumper boats.  Sammi and Daddy had a go around in the water.  Mom did not want to get wet so she was the photographer.  The only part of the harbor that wasn’t fun was when we were done.  Sammi had such a good time that she did not want to leave.  She put on quite a fuss when our time was up.  She wanted to go back and jump in the pool. After the harbor we watched some of the game and then went over to the playground area.  Sammi probably went down the slide 50 times.  She again was having a blast. And again when it was time to go she was not happy.  We actually had a very difficult 5 minute walk back to the car as Sammi tried everything she could think of to run back to the park to slide some more.  Here are a couple pics.

VBS and Car seats

Well as promised here is the update.  We made it to VBS Mon. night! It is amazing how fast time flies though. We were moving to try and get everything done in time. Sammi needed a bath and dinner in between getting home around 4:30 and VBS which started at 6:00. Around 5:30 I am looking at my watch and things are looking good.  we are about done eating and at this point I am thinking we may even be early.  Next thing I know it is 5:59 and we get in the door with 1 minute to spare.  Between cleaning up the girls after dinner, walking the dogs, packing them in the car, getting the diaper bag ready and trying not to forget the car keys as we run out the door that last 30 min was just conseumed! Crazy.

So the other amusing thing from yesterday was that when I went t pick Sammi up from daycare Yvette came up and told us that Sammi took a liking to one of the babies car seats.  Yvette recently took on an infant and apparently when she went down for her nap Sammi thought that her car seat looked like a good place to hang out and blopped herself down in the seat. Then later in the day as kids were being picked up and Yvette was up and down the stairs delivering kids Sammi took advantage of one of the times that Yvette was upstairs to again jump in the carseat.  I guess she thought it was comfortable??
